ME.WE my cup of tea?

Image

Toyota has revealed the ME.WE Concept, a lightweight compact car developed by Toyota European Design & Development (ED2) in collaboration with designer Jean-Marie Massaud.

Durable and lightweight polypropylene panels, make the exterior fully customizable giving unique  personalisation. ‘Working with Toyota since 2011, Massaud has sought to create an “anti-crisis” car that addresses contemporary human, economic and environmental challenges, bringing his independent vision and experience from outside the motor industry.’

Great exterior form…interesting and innovative, dune buggy meets mini in this eccentric mash up. I think it’s a beaut. A great piece of design, perfect for its function and a treat for the eyes as well. I am most impressed with the interior.

Its simplistic and natural. A pure beauty. Definite proof that less is more. I specifically like the steering wheel, in terms of pure aesthetics, its great, however in terms of functionality I’m not sure the U shape is practical in an emergency or a situation that requires sharp turns. It has an innovative head rest, I’m a fan of designs that challenge convention and do something new.

All in all I think this is a wonderful piece of design architecture, definitely my cup of tea

I love designin…

I love designing, it is something which permeates my whole living, whether it is simply choosing the colour of my clothes in the morning or organising my household. Design to me is akin to beauty, an externalisation of my inner process regarding beauty & contentment with life.-Martine Moeykens

Shine on

Image

This seasons must have is metallic. When done right, metallic can be tasteful yet fierce, revealing an inner alter ego most hide during their 9-5. Affordable and glam, get your shine on. The perfect compliment to a plain tee or as wedges for a girls night out, this is a material that flatters everyone…a cheeky accessory. Hopefully we won’t see anyone sporting the tin foil look and taking it to a whole other level.

Can you Zoe me

Killer cool interior to match its refreshing and dapper exterior. I love this car inside and out, it truly is a work of vehicle architecture. Minimalistic, yet zestful and chic, not only in its design but in its overall essence, down to its materials and colour scheme. It creates a zen like atmosphere and a sense of serenity, so the focus is purely on the driving and the pleasure; the freedom of driving. The predominantly white interior, to a degree allows the driver to personalise the type of theme and characteristic they want their vehicle to have. However, there might be a lot of reflections in the car due to the light bouncing off the white surfaces…I might need to invest in some stellar sunglasses.

I want, I want, I want

This is the Renault Zoe. Someone please buy this for me…or give me a job so I can buy it myself. Timeless beauty, feminine style and an element of suaveness. First revealed at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show, this all-electric supermini is right up my alley. It has simple design ques that reveal its all-electric nature, without compromising aesthetic appeal…or making us feel like its a car from The Jetsons. Innovative grill, that’s feminine and stylish, yet edgy. Sharp graphics, with a soft and organic form, the exterior body is gorgeous, almost airing the traits and characteristics of a woman…however you choose to interpret that.

This is definitely my kind of car, eco friendly; so I feel like I’m doing my part to help the environment, practical in terms of its range and charging abilities and hot; can’t be a car designer and have a hideous car ;)

That’s what to do with Bamboo

‘empty bamboo stationery’ by yu jian

An innovative and eco friendly approach to stylish and contemporary design. Function meets aesthetics in this superb collaboration. I’m usually not one for wooden stationary as they can often appear pretentious, but this one is right on the money; reeking of coolness and sophistiscation.
